About

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and read for a spell.

My name is Patti, and the I'm the mama who is becoming joyful around here. I'm a transplanted coastal New Englander living in central Texas and having the adventure of a lifetime!

My husband and I homeschool our three children on our homestead. Life here has been filled with surprises from the get-go. Neither of us grew up in the country so we provide plenty of laughter for our neighbors as we fumble along!

Everywhere I turn on the farm, the Lord whispers to my heart. His lessons abound in His creation... beauty and life in all seasons.

I started Joyful Mama in 2002 as a small business selling baby slings and toys. When I chose the name, I remember feeling somewhat sheepish. Truth be told, I did not feel like a joyful mama. I was a tired, grumpy and frightened mama. I decided then and there that this name would have to be prophetic.

I would never have guessed the route the Lord would use to bring me to joy. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the more I gave of myself, the more I served and put others' needs first, the more joy came into my heart! I had been going about it all wrong.

We eventually closed our little business to focus on our growing family and homestead. Now Joyful Mama is my place to write. I love to weave words and photos into a story of life... because everywhere I look I see Life bursting out.

No matter where you are, you too can find beauty, friend.  No matter what your circumstance, choosing love will bring you joy.
Be joyful always;
pray continually;
give thanks in all circumstances,
for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
~ 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ~
I'd love to "meet" you... do leave a note and let me know you stopped in!
